Located on the sixth floor of Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai, Tasca is an exciting one-Michelin starred restaurant from culinary genius José Avillez. Named after the Portuguese word for tavern, Tasca is José Avillez’s first international opening, following on behind the Michelin-starred Belcanto as well as his other celebrated ventures in Portugal.


Serving genuine Portuguese flavours with a contemporary twist, Tasca’s menu bursts with character and flavour. Complementing the menu is a wine list with the largest selection of Portuguese wines in Dubai as well as a tempting array of craft cocktails.


Boasting spectacular views over Dubai’s glittering skyline on one side and the Arabian Gulf on the other, the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining on a terrace with infinity pool overlooking the Gulf.  Live entertainment available on Friday and Saturday.

Escape the heat and relish in the exclusivity of this adults-only rooftop infinity pool. The chic sun deck comes with a limited number of luxe double daybeds, perfect for relaxing and taking in breathtaking sea views while sipping on your favourite cocktail or savouring sumptuous Portuguese bites from a specially-curated menu by chef José Avillez.

At Tasca, the spirit of this symbol comes to life through exquisite flavours, vibrant atmosphere, and a special gift inspired by Portuguese heritage.

Chic and charming, Tasca’s Infinity Bar offers a collection of carefully curated cocktails best enjoyed for sunset. Relax at the exclusive rooftop hotspot which overlooks uninterrupted views of the Arabian Gulf and envelops guests with a refreshing sea breeze.

 

All cocktails are served with imaginative flair paired with a selection of tasty bites and chill-out tunes which perfectly complement the setting. While relaxing on the tranquil terrace with uninterrupted sea views, it is hard to believe you aren’t sitting in a secluded corner of the Algarve.

Chef José Avillez

Renowned chef José Avillez is the culinary visionary behind TASCA, Mandarin Oriental Jumeira’s contemporary Portuguese restaurant. Passionate about cuisine and his country, Avillez embraces innovation and creativity without ever forgetting tradition, quality, authenticity and the value of hard work.

 

Born and raised near the coast in Portugal, Chef Avillez’ main focus is to promote Portuguese gastronomy and he is considered by many to be one of the country’s greatest chefs. Whilst studying Business Communication in college, he enjoyed private lessons with the key author on traditional Portuguese gastronomy, Maria de Lourdes Modesto, inspiring his move into the kitchen. Following experience working in restaurants including the legendary El Bulli by Ferran Adrià in Spain, he took on the role of executive chef at Tavares, in Lisbon, where a year later he helped the restaurant win a Michelin star.

 

In 2011 José Avillez opened his own restaurant and today runs several restaurants in Portugal, each with a different concept, but all expressing his passion for cuisine. In addition, José Avillez works on various other projects including TV shows, books and signature wines.

 

TASCA, is chef José Avillez’ first international restaurant and offers a menu of Portuguese flavours with a contemporary twist in a vibrant atmosphere.
