At Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo, we strive to create a better future for the next generation. We do this by protecting the environment, our people, and the communities we serve. Below you can learn more about our on property sustainability initiatives.
Our Collective Impact
Sustainability is about doing the right thing by ourselves, by our colleagues, by our families, and by the planet.
Doing the Right Thing for Our Planet
As part of our efforts, we have replaced traditional printed materials in our rooms with wooden blocks featuring QR codes. These blocks not only reduce paper waste but are also crafted from responsibly sourced wood, contributing to our eco-friendly initiatives.
Doing the Right Thing for Our Guests
To reduce our environmental footprint, we provide wooden room card keys and complimentary premium water in glass bottles. We’ve replaced single-use shower gels with refillable bottles and offer bathroom amenities in sustainable packaging. Additionally, we recycle Nespresso coffee capsules and use paper coffee cups, biodegradable plastic cake boxes and cutlery. Each of these measures reflects our commitment to offering you an exceptional experience with a minimal environmental impact.
Doing the Right Thing for Our Community
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group encourages all colleagues to volunteer one paid day each year to a charity of their choice. At Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo, our colleagues completed 2,797 hours of charity work in 2023 alone. Each colleague contributes six hours annually to support local causes and make a positive impact. This initiative reflects our dedication to giving back and fostering meaningful connections within the communities we serve.
