About Mahi Binebine
Mahi Binebine, born in 1959 in Marrakech, is a leading figure on the Moroccan contemporary art scene. After studying mathematics in Paris, he taught for several years before devoting himself to writing and painting. His works have been shown in prestigious institutions such as the Guggenheim Museum in New York. The author of twelve novels, including Les Étoiles de Sidi Moumen, adapted for the cinema by Nabil Ayouch under the title Les Chevaux de Dieu, Binebine is also co-founder of the Festival du Livre Africain de Marrakech (FLAM), which celebrates African literature and culture.
